3-D map Mt. Shasta, California

This is a 3-D map of Mt. Shasta in northern California near the Oregon border.  Mt. Shasta is the beginning of the Cascade Mountain Range that runs along the northwest coast to Canada.  If you look on the map the two main glaciers are depicted along with the snowfield the opposite side.  Mt. Shasta is famous for its summer glacier skiing and snowboarding as well as being worshiped by cults and hippies.  This map comes from siskiyous.edu, a community college at the base of the mountain.

Topo trail map Mt. Whitney

This trail map is more topographical style of Mt. Whitney near Lone Pine, California.  I have never had the privilege of climbing Whitney but my father has done it solo.  This is one of the easier climbs on the west coast that is over 14,000 feet.  Every time you drive to Mammoth you drive right under the shadows of Mt. Whitney.  This topo map comes from a trail running club I am involved with, Foothillflyers.org.

Big Pine Trail, Big Bear California

This trail runs from east to west on the north side of Big Bear Lake.  The ski resorts are on the south and southeast side of the lake and you can see them from this trail.  One local secret is there is a abandoned ski area just to the south of downtown Big Bear, previously named Snow Forest, and if you can find it, you have it all to your-self.  This image comes from Treknow.com and is a great source for local hiking maps.
